Parent Information

Parent Partnership

At Manorside Nursery we strive to develop positive relationships with our pupils and their families through a collaborative approach, to ensure they feel part of our school community. We highly value the partnership we have with our parents and involve them in as much as possible. We invite them to share our learning journeys with us and contribute by adding star moments from home on tapestry.

Tapestry is an online system which allows us to create an individual Learning Journey for every child in Nursery.

Once a term, your child will be a focus child. We add comments, notes, photographs and videos of the week and link them to the Early Years Curriculum. This supports us to assess and monitor your child’s progress as well as identify any areas for development.

We also record “wow” moments that we see in Nursery.

What You Need To Bring

For every session, your child needs to bring:

  • A named water bottle
  • Named lunchbox if your child will be joining us for lunch. Please note we are a nut free setting so please do not pack anything containing nuts as these will not be given, please be aware that most chocolate spreads do contain hazelnuts so where possible please avoid packing this for your child
  • A coat in wet and cold weather,
  • A ruck sack with a spare uniform packed
    • Hat, scarf and gloves (cold weather),
    • Wellies for outside play,
    • Sun hat and sun cream (warmer weather)

Please make sure all your child’s belongings are clearly labelled with their name as this will prevent things getting lost.

Your Child’s Key Person

The Nursery year is an important time in your child’s schooling.  It establishes the foundations upon which all other learning takes place.  We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum which places great emphasis on learning through play, both indoors and outside.

Every child will be given a key person before they start who will help them settle into nursery. They will also make sure your child’s learning and care is tailored to their individual needs.

The key person will organise focused activities which will support your child’s learning and development.

Our day is full of learning, both independent and supported by the adults.

Every day we do phonics, and read our story of the week (which will be shared with you on Tapestry) and provocations within the environment further extend our learning

No two days are ever the same due to the many different opportunities we have at Manorside.

Uniforms

All children to wear a clearly named Manorside PE jumper or supermarket brand and a Manorside PE t-shirt. These items can be ordered online from   https://starsportswear.co.uk/.

Children can wear black/Navy trousers, jogging bottoms, skirts or leggings and black shoes/trainers - provided toes covered are covered for safety (no croc style shoes). On PE days (you will be informed of PE days during your settling in session) please ensure your child is wearing trainers, jogging bottoms/leggings along with the Manorside PE t-shirt and jumper so that we can cater for all weathers.

Please ensure all items are clearly named.
